The William T. Simpson and Kirby families owned adjoining pieces of property between Easterly & New Baden.  At the connection of their land, they created a cemetery.  It is now in a plowed field on land formerly owned by Frances Irene "Fannie" Archer Hoyt.  As young boys, brothers Basel I. & James Wheeless (whose grandfather William Thomas Wheeless married Theodorea Elizabeth "Dora" Burrough Archer) moved to the Archer farm.  In the early 1930s, the boys remember seeing "in a group of unplowed, wooded, land some markers that indicated graves.  These markers were on the West side of a large gully, possibly on the Simpson place."  Working together in 2001, the Wheeless brothers are trying to pinpoint the location of this cemetery.  It was near the current DeZavala Vineyards property.
