Llano County is a part of the TXGenWeb Project, which in turn is
a part of the USGenWeb Project. It was formed in 1856. It is most often referred to as "The Land of Legend and Lure"
or "The Whitetail Deer Capitol of Texas" - referred to by these names
because of its abundant wildlife, natural beauty, and "wild west"
style of history. The county is rich in natural minerals, especially granite;
of which the Llano County Courthouse is constructed. The county once mostly
known for its ranching is now also known for its hunting, fishing and other
recreations. However historically, Llano County is probably remembered most for
the Packsaddle Mountain Indian Fight in 1873. Llano County is one filled with
numerous registered historical places to visit, things to do, and annual events
to attend. So come on by, visit us, but please remember to leave 
the county as pristine as you found it so
the next generation will have it to enjoy also!
